Linux Device NAS Software
Network Attached Storage provides data storage space in the network. It is implemented for Small Office Home Office (SOHO) environment to satisfy the need for storage space with minimal cost and knowledge. It is designed for people who don't know much about computers but still would benefit from the use. This means no external service provider, no maintenance costs, a install-and-forget system.
NAS or server
The need for storage space is ever growing. When more space is needed a common solution includes buying or upgrading a server, installation of a new hard disk, heavy back up, hours of work a lot of finger-crossing and finally a bold bill.

Do you really have to go through all this? The answer is no. Actually, what is needed is space, not a computing power. NAS gives you the space. You will get it with a cost of considerably less than a new computer, ease of installation comparable to replacing a bulb and no need for networking knowledge.

One device - space for everybody
Most of the storage space is usually consumed by user documents, be it a bunch of spreadsheets or MP3 files. In SOHO environment people tend to need access for same files. Instead of keeping your copy of a document on your hard disk, everybody can access it from commonly shared storage space. Network Attached Storage is storage space for everybody - so adding one device to network you add 40GB storage space for everybody.

Back it up
You can use the NAS as a convenient backup device - it is inexpensive, and it is faster than say, tape backups or MO drives.

Portable storage
NAS device is mobile. It can be drifted from network to network with data instantly accessible. Instead of wasting time and money for storing data on portable media it is easy to take NAS to another location and access the needed files.

Recognizing the family
If you ever will run out of space again and consider to buy next NAS you will be pleasantly surprised. The next NAS will recognize the similar device on the network and performs the setup without any outside help.

Central management interface
No matter how many NASes you connect to your network there will be one administration website for all of them.

Security features
You can easily add up security to your data through administration web interface. Create the folders only desired users can access or put a disk space advisor on watch to be sure everybody uses the storage space friendly.
