Inspired by Challenges Being challenged by the globalization process and technological innovation, the world is not always ready to offer quick answers with suitable solutions at the time when they are most needed. New thinking is resurrected from situations when common knowledge fails to support the sustainable advantage in the ever-changing competitive environment. The essence of future success and recognition is dependent on one’s capability to efficiently convert resources into reusable values. Countries and societies will witness a divide of organizations by their attitude toward globalization and by their capacity to innovate and adopt the results of applied research to usable new technologies. Organizations will grow, fall and merge while trying their best to withstand the competitiveness fostered by these two global processes - this creative destruction is inevitable and is part of the technological evolution.
Gustav Poola President & CEO Technology Think-Tank Favorably located in Northern Europe, Artec Group companies have established its name recognition from the beginning of 1998. Artec Group as a new technology oriented holding organization has its focus on developing venture businesses to exploit new emerging technologies. One of the the major factors for the long-term business success for any technology organization is contingent on their capacity to create and sustain its competitive advantages. Artec Group has determined its strategic position by fostering methods and processes that will result in creation and deployment of new technologies as well as reuse of its existing intellectual properties. Substantial investments are being made to extend its portfolio of reusable intellectual property, which is being made available under suitable license and royalty agreements. To build a long-lasting win-win relationship with our customers, we at Artec are working hard to manage the risk of new product development and to shorten the time-to-market period. From Concept to Prototype Artec is a privately held professional engineering services and research company with some 85% of its staff being professional electronic and software engineers. Artec’s focus has expanded from initial schematic design services into a multi-discipline research and development organization. The ability to deliver a full spectrum of services ranging from documenting initial ideas to producing marketable prototypes positions Artec Design as a turn-key engineering facility. In the rapidly changing high-tech environment our team is committed to offering classic engineering traditions and craftsmanship by applying experience and expertise in using tools such as Mentor Graphics Power PCB, Cadence CCT Spectra Router, CAM-350 Gerber Editing tools, Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD Schematic Capture and HyperLynx Signal Integrity and EMC Analysis tools for high speed designs. New Product Development - Driven by Market Speed Today’s technology rich competitive environment forces organizations to face shortened time to market cycles affecting their product life span. As the new product development process requires both engineering and marketing expertise, multi-discipline teams are a common way of organizing and achieving goals of a development project while keeping it in an expected time frame. The engineering team at Artec is dedicated to provide its customers with reliable and cost effective solutions as well as long term support for every stage of the entire life cycle of a product. Affiliations & Contributions Artec Group is a founding member of a technology consortium ELIKO - an electronic competence centre of Tallinn University of Technology. Artec Group commits part of its resources to support the future academic focus on creating new and alternative methods for engineering development as well as for bringing to life breakthrough technologies. Orientations in new technology: Alternative methods of signal processing for electrical bioimpedance measurement - Electrical bioimpedance enables sensing of physiological parameters through electrical measurements. Self-configurable RFID network technologies - enabling RFID technology foundation to create ad-hock networks Structure generator (SG) based design flow - IP is complemented with XML 'recipe' where SG reads it together with design data and 'cooks' system and test-bench automatically. Self-test and verification technologies - IP blocks are complemented with properties describing the behavior of a block. FPGA, ASIC and Cryptography VLSI Research and Development Division was introduced in the beginning of 1999 to address an increasing demand for FPGA conversion projects as well as for ASIC designs. We offer system-on-a-chip designs targeting ASIC and FPGA technologies. Depending on requirements we are able to interface from specification to the netlist delivery. In-house PCB expertise is a plus when an evaluation platform is required to prove the initial concept or performing functional and environmental testing of target designs. Having cooperated as a team with many industry leaders and being experienced to use VHDL/Verilog logical coding along with widely recognized design tools, Artec can assure the fastest route from an idea to a prototype stage. An extended focus is paid to network infrastructure devices and cryptography solutions. Implemented applications support data communications secured by RSA, DES, IDEA and AES.
